Wright Patterson Air Force Museum

We visited this awesome museum a 3 years ago but only had a day to explore. The place is so huge and interesting that we needed 4 days. We are finally back to finish our tour. If you plan a visit, allow a full day for each section. The first hanger covers early flight, WWI and WWII. The second one has displays of Korea and Southeast Asia conflicts. The third houses aircraft from The Cold War. The fourth covers Modern, Experimental Aircraft and a large number of Air Force One planes. There is a wonderful theater, numerous displays you can enter, a large gift shop, 2 cafes, free guided tours and a excellent staff. This free museum would be a highlight for anyone with an interest in aircraft, the military and history. We will return on Saturday to see the final hanger. 2 miles of walking today just to see 1.5 hangers and the memorial park.

Those are full sized planes Y’all! Not models. Be prepared to walk around with your mouth hanging open in awe!

    1. It is a massive place but wonderful to visit with good planning. That’s why I made suggestions. The personal stories of military men and women were of great interest to us too. Stories about POWs and The Holocaust broke our hearts 💔 The museum offers so much that I’m glad we can do it justice this time.
