Blackhawk Bridge

Because we prefer small towns route, I often need to be creative to find grocery and laundry. Today’s little errand for vittles sent me over the Mississippi River on the Blackhawk Bridge into Iowa from Wisconsin. What a cool bridge! Of course I looked up it’s history and copied a link for you. Another interesting link tells that the bridge was featured in a movie The Straight Story about a man who traveled through Iowa and Wisconsin on a John Deere riding mower at 5 mph to visit his dying brother. Warren and I saw this excellent movie many years ago. May as well stream it tonight and enjoy it again while in the area. It’s been so long it will seem like the first time we saw it 😂
