Viking Ship πŸ‡³πŸ‡΄

We visited this amazing ship while camping near Fargo ND. The ship itself is beautiful but the story of its conception and built is even more so. Modeled after a Viking ship that was used as a burial vessel around 1100 AD and found buried in Norway. The Hjemkomst Norwegian History Center is a wonderful setting for this ship that sailed from Duluth across the chain of Great Lakes to New York and then on the Norway! I hope you will take a few minutes to watch the video and feel inspired to follow a dream of your own. The name of the ship, Hjemkomst, means homecoming in Norwegian.

Borrowed from the internet. I couldn’t get the whole ship in my camera frame

In the same Norwegian History Center, a replica of an ancient stave church was conceived and built by another son of πŸ‡³πŸ‡΄ Norway. Absolutely beautiful and so interesting to learn this bit of history.

Intricate carvings around the door
This “svalgang” or porch surrounds the entire church
