The Porkys

This huge wilderness area in Michigan is a hikers paradise! We aren’t real hikers but we can stroll 😊 Our campsite on the shore of Lake Superior gives us beautiful views all day. Perfect quite spot to read and relax. The red sandstone geology is very different from the pebble and sand beaches elsewhere around the lake. We viewed Lake in the Clouds today. A nice long boardwalk through the woods to the overlook. 90 miles of trails crisscross the park. The we enjoyed a beautiful, shady but slightly challenging hike to a waterfall. Tired but satisfied. Porcupine Mountains State Park.

10:15 last night! We have yet to see the dark while on the peninsula these last couple weeks.
Haven’t needed it yet 😁
The ancient native population thought the mountains looked like the shape of a porcupine
